August Update

Hello everyone and welcome to the latest update from Kings.

We have been busier then expected during the summer and would like to take this opportunity to thank all customers existing and new, for the incredible support for both sites

As with previous posts, fish and potato costs are at record highs, and we have reluctantly had to make some small price increases, just on fish and chips, all other menu items remain the same..

Having reviewed other take-always we are still the best valued fish and chips restaurant, in the York area.

A lot of outlets are having to stop serving haddock, due to very high prices and low stocks in the UK.This has been caused due to high demand during the 3rd lockdown, change in quotas following Brexit and possible warmer sea temperatures making fish go to other areas not attainable for most trawlers. The haddock that has been caught is smaller then most fish and chip outlets, tend to use so we have a perfect storm regarding supply.. at the moment, are okay but could well change over the coming weeks..

We are about to launch our own confectionary cakes which will be available in-store and online, ultimate chocolate brownies, sticky toffee pudding, carrot cake and much much more.

We have also signed contracts to join “York Eats” a delivery portal just for York and surrounding  area. We are keen to support the area and means cheaper delivery options for our customers opposed to the national options of Deliveroo, Just Eat, and Uber eats..(which we will keep using)

We are always on the look out to add to our amazing team so if your interested in joining the kings team then please drop your details into either Acomb or Fulford we have various shifts available.

We hope the weather improves for the Rest of August, and hope that you enjoy whatever holiday you can manage to have, before school starts again in September..

It’s great seeing more people out and about again after all the restrictions, we don’t ask anyone to wear masks when coming to our stores and the decisions are left with both staff and customers and we encourage all to do what they feel comfortable with.

Stay safe and we hope you enjoy whats left of the summer, ohh and enjoy some Kings fish and chips

Best

Mark
